VS1-A FAQs

  • No size constraints. Theoretically a 10ft x 65ft glass panel (maximum glass size available); standard fittings can support glass panels up to 150sq ft; custom fittings can accommodate larger glass sizes. Up to 3” thick with standard fittings; thicker glass will require custom fittings.

  • A: VS1 offers best in class thermal performance compared to any other curtain wall system on the market. Please contact us for a copy of the official thermal report.

  • No–all VS1 components deliver fully fabricated and finished; perimeter channels and knife anchor plates are typically shipped in stock lengths to allow the glazing contractor to correct for field tolerances.

GLASS

VS1-G Series

The VS1-G Series is an evolution of the VS1 technology in pursuit of the ultimate level of facade transparency using structural glass laminated fins in lieu of the original aluminum mullion.

VS1-G100
Direct Glaze SSG + Gravity Shelf

  • Standard vertical fin glazing

  • Structural silicone glazes glass fin directly to face glass

  • Stainless steel gravtiy shelf supports glass dead load

  • No hole drilling through face glass required

  • Metal plate shape can be customized

VS1-G200
Concealed Tension Bar

  • No visible metal system

  • Details proprietary; contact Innovation Glass for details

  • No hole drilling through face glass required

VS1-G FAQs

  • 59’ with no intermediary steel reinforcement. This can be done with one continuous glass fin with no splice joints needed.

  • No – as always, VS1 uses through-the-joint fittings that do not require hole drilling through the face glass. Any glass panel can be used.

  • While it is possible to do so, our standard approach for glass fins is a simple direct SSG glaze between fin and face glass.

TIMBER

VS1-T Series

The VS1-T Series builds towards a sustainable future by moving away from the market convention of timber cladding and instead letting the wood do the work. VS1-T achieves all the benefits of VS1-A with a structural glulam mullion while taking on the issue of embodied carbon in construction.

VS1-T100
Standard Fitting + Patch

  • Basic point-supported option with solid glulam mullion

  • 2" offset between mullion and glass

  • External patch fitting securing glass

VS1-T110
Standard Fitting + Toggle

VS1-T FAQs

  • 40’ with no intermediary steel reinforcement.

  • We offer two softwoods that are domestic within the US: southern yellow pine and Douglass fir. We also can source a beech hardwood from Germany that is 5x stronger than most softwood options. Other wood species can be explored if desired.

  • We typically comply with the glulam fire safety requirements outlined in an individual project specification as they tend to differ. VS1-T can be delivered with an intumescent fire retardant to resist flame spread and achieve a specified UL rating.

Can VS1-T be flipped to the exterior like the aluminum system?

Can the VS1-T mullion be shaped similarly to your aluminum mullion?
