Multistory VS1 scope encloses a stairwell and serves as the feature facade
FROM THE ARCHITECT PERKINS EASTMAN
The Innovation Glass team was proud to once again work alongside our friends at Perkins Eastman on this student commons building in The Bronx. The small, triangular site now has three VS1 installations that contribute to the building’s optimal thermal performance: the building is the largest LEED Gold Certified building in The Bronx.
The feature curtain wall above the north entry to the building is a sloping wall—sill in, head out—with VS1 fittings mounted to steel framing. The steel was supplied by another vendor, showcasing our firm’s ability to collaborate in the building process and accommodate as-built conditions. That wall wraps around to the north east where it is supported by the 8” VS1 mullion. On the south side of the building there is a segmented VS1 curtain wall that is achieved using our 5” mullion.
