Seismic Drift Adaptation

VS1 glass walls can be engineered to safely accommodate the natural movements from earthquakes and tremors. Depending on the level of movement, custom fittings, perimeter channels, and joint size adjustments can be implemented to satisfy both the elastic and inelastic criteria that are challenged during seismic events. Installed VS1 facades in Southern California, the Rocky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest have proven their designs can withstand significant drift and additional forces applied to the structural anchors. To date, our engineers have designed VS1 systems to accommodate up to +/- 24” of in-plane movement.
